Now that summer is coming to a close, it’s important to remember that eyecare is more than just UV protection. Every season brings specific obstacles when it comes to the health of our vision. Here are a few tips to keep in mind during the coming months:
1. When the temperatures start to cool down, the air typically gets much dryer, so our eyes need extra moisture this time of the year. Increase your water intake and utilize eye drops, if needed, to help keep your eyes moisturized.
2. Shorter days mean we have more awake time when it’s dark, compared to summer. Sleeping for at least 7 hours per night can help you replenish your eyes, and avoid eye spasms and dry eyes.
3. Fresh fruits and vegetables tend to be harder to come by in the colder months. However, their nutrients are vital to maintaining vision health. Be sure to eat foods like carrots, peppers and leafy greens to help maintain optimum eye function.
