Optometrist, Island Eyecare,
Dr. Tim BarrOptometrist
Dr. Tim Barr made the decision to pursue a career in Optometry in the eighth grade after being prescribed his first pair of eyeglasses. His Optometrist, Dr. Barry Fuller of Vision Associates in Havre de Grace, Maryland, would become his friend and mentor. A 1984 graduate of the University of Maryland and a 1988 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Barr is clinically trained in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease and maintains close relationships with local glaucoma, cataract, and retinal specialists. His special interests include children’s vision, contact lenses, and laser vision correction. Dr. Barr feels that practicing Optometry means caring for people, not just their eyes. He values his ability to improve lives by providing his patients with clear, comfortable vision. The key to his success has been the love and support of his wife, Jeanne, and twin daughters, Tess and Payton.
Marianne RingOptician
Marianne was a youngster when an optical lab opened in her neighborhood. She applied for a job, was hired to answer the phones, but she wanted to operate the equipment, grinding lenses, “that’s where the boys were”. Her nice new boss humored her thinking she’d never last in that position… she did. She will tell you that the two men training her were mathematical geniuses. She married one of them and worked for the other for many years, while taking classes to become a Certified Optician with the American Board of Opticianry. In the 1980’s when full service stores were all the rage, Marianne, managed a lab, became general manager, then regional trainer. She’s been with Island Eyecare since 1998, she loves the office, loves her boss and co-workers, the casual atmosphere, the fabulous lines of eyewear, and especially the patients (many have become lifelong friends). A gardener extraordinaire, Marianne, likes to kick around Farmers Markets and Festivals, enjoying food, wine, and music.
Beth PooleOptician
Beth Poole started in the optical field right out of high school, working as an optician, and optical sales. She gained experience and eventually moved on to a busy ophthalmology practice. She joined Island Eyecare in 2011 and has quickly become an invaluable asset. Her attention to detail and problem solving abilities set her apart. She enjoys her work because it allows her to meet new people and she takes great pride in helping them get the best vision possible with precise prescription lenses. Beth especially likes helping folks select stylish and fashionable eyewear. She enjoys gardening, crafts, spending time with her family and friends, and she loves it when it snows.
Felicia MylottOptician
Felicia joined Island Eyecare in 2020, bringing with her 10 years of experience in optical retail sales and management. Her genuine desire to take care of patients shows in everything she does. She’s an expert optician and problem solver who goes above and beyond for our patients. The only thing more important to Felicia than caring for our patients, is caring for her young family. She also LOVES her Husky/Shepard/Malinois mixed dogs, and her kitties.
Desiree HanksOptician
The newest member of the Island Eyecare team, Desiree, joined us in 2021. After several years in retail sales and management, Desiree made the decision to pursue a career as an Optician, and we’re happy to help her on that journey. She’s quickly become an asset to our practices. No one has a better work ethic. Out of the office, Desiree, enjoys caring for her young daughter and getting out on the water to fish.
